About
What is Social.com all about?
I've been fascinated with social networking since I started following it in 2006. I decided to launch a directory to help me keep track of and share the interesting sites that I run across.
How do I decide to add a site?
First, a site should probably fall within one of the broad categories that I've already setup. I won't rule out adding more top level categories though down the road …
If your site is extremely popular, it's probably a good bet that I'll add it once it comes to my attention. A good review in one of the popular blogs will also stir me to take a close look.
Beyond that, I look for a few things:
- I generally don't add sites that aren't open to the public (no private beta sites).
- If I can't browse much of a site without becoming a member, it needs to be pretty compelling for me to take that next step.
- Lots of activity in terms of members, discussions, interactions, etc.
Enjoy your visit!
